Dr. Farhad Sobouti

DDS · Certified Specialist in Orthodontics

Dr. Farhad Sobouti is an accomplished orthodontist and academic clinician with a strong record in research, teaching, and specialty training. He completed his DDS program in 2008 and ranked among the top performers at the specialty exam, which enabled him to enter an orthodontic residency in 2009. He graduated from the University of Tehran orthodontic program in 2012 with outstanding achievement, demonstrated through exceptional performance at the National Board exam.

He began his orthodontic specialty journey by establishing private clinical practice while actively pursuing an academic career. In 2012, he joined Mazandaran University as an Assistant Professor, bringing energy and expertise to both education and departmental development. In 2019, he was promoted to Associate Professor in recognition of his academic contributions and leadership. During his faculty tenure, he held multiple administrative roles, including Head of the Orthodontics Department at the dental school. He also served as Vice Dean for Research and Vice Dean for Education, contributing to institutional strategy and academic advancement. In addition, he participated in various scientific and research committees, supporting the growth of scholarly activity and graduate training.

He has earned multiple awards from national and international research symposiums and has lectured extensively at dental and orthodontic scientific congresses. His scholarly output includes more than 85 peer-reviewed orthodontic publications during his time as a faculty member in Iran. In 2023, he relocated to Canada and pursued advanced specialty training through the DSATP program, a highly competitive one-year pathway designed specifically for international orthodontists. He successfully completed the program, obtained his Canadian board degree, and is currently practising orthodontics in the GTA.

Outside of professional life, sports and family remain central to his routine. When he is away from the office, he enjoys soccer and swimming and maintains a strong connection to athletic pursuits. He is a former member of Iran’s national swimming team and remains a dedicated sports fan. He also has a special enthusiasm for the Toronto Raptors and supports Manchester United.
